ASUS Google Nexus 7 Android Jellybean 4 1 7 Tablet – Specifications Review
ASUS Google Nexus 7 Android Jellybean 4 1 7 Tablet – Specifications Review
It was against all odds Jellybean but no Android 5.0 Android 4.1 Jellybean. A smaller updates their names, when we are primarily focused on improvements in speed and stability of the operating system. Of course there is also the new functions and features, Android Jelly Bean is no sensation in that regard.
Android 4.0 was the first step toward a system that was suitable for both smartphones and tablets & Android 4.1 makes this task complete. In addition, Googles interface for tablets largely left alone and will not be Android 4.0 ICS users discover many exciting differences in appearance.
Google hopes that this new version shows what Android can really and how well Android can be, even without a skin of a manufacturer. One of the ways the Internet giant wants this show is the introduction of the Nexus 7, together with a tablet that ASUS developed and fully optimized for perfect operation with Jellybean.
In this review I look at the key new features, functions and improvements in Android 4.1 Jellybean if device used in the recently launched Nexus 7 tablet. For my experience with this tablet, I refer you to the review of the ASUS Nexus 7.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Video
In the video below, I look fast to the new functions and features within Jellybean, including the interface, Butter Project, the Chrome browser and Google Now. For a complete review of Google Now you can go to this article.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - Butter Project
Lets start right away with one of the key elements of Jellybean. Google gave during the presentation of the operating system that many thought about and worked on the stability and speed of Android. This was in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich just not optimal, something that certainly showed 9 out of 10 reviews to date we have made ICS tablets. Google, the improvements in this area the name Project Butter given.
Googles goal was to lay within Android to disappear and to optimize the touch experience. Everything had to be a lot smoother and smoother walk. It is still difficult to estimate how Jellybean will run on other devices but the experience on the Nexus 7 is indeed very smooth and without any lag. I can even say this is the finest (operatively) Android tablet is that until now I had in my hands.
Everything else feels slow in comparison with Android 4.1 on the Nexus 7. Apps open quickly, browse through home screens and switch between apps without going without lag and stuttering, the touch screen responds quickly (even direct), faster browsing and gaming or watching HD movies goes very smoothly.
Jelly Bean is currently only available on the Nexus 7 and this has also an important support for hardware such as the Tegra 3 processor and 12-core GPU, and is fully optimized for Google and ASUSs OS. This improvement is really good too soon to assess tablets with lesser specs are equipped with Jellybean. It is whether Jellybean or perceptible differences can start bidding on the high-end ASUS Transformer tablets as the tablets or the Acer Iconia Tab series.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Interface
In terms of interface, there is something immediately on Android Android 4.1 Jellybean. Google has chosen three interfaces, namely to develop a smart phone, a 7-inch tablets and a 10 inch tablets. The Nexus 7 is equipped with the 7 inch version, which much like the smart phone version, and can only be used in portrait mode. You can change the home screen your tablet is not horizontal use, applications, however.
According to Googles Android 7 inch too small to be clear and easy to display in horizontal mode, and a 7 inch tablet still often used in portrait mode. It remains unclear what formats tablets now the Smartphone version and what sizes the tablets tablet version of Jellybean get.
The home screen is also more comparable to smart phones. For example, the notifications at the top of the screen to find where the battery status, time and Wifi range to see. The notifications can from the top of the screen to be folded down using a swipe down. Then you get to see the most recent notifications, youll see an icon for the settings and you can lock the rotation on or off.
At the bottom you will find three software buttons. On the left is the "previous / back" button in the middle of the home button and the right app list button you can see all open apps. These three buttons also appear at the bottom of the screen at all times, even in landscape mode. Just above these buttons is located on the home screen a bar with apps that are fixed for all home screens. These can be yourself. In the middle is a direct link to the app launcher where you can find all the applications.
The home screen of the Nexus 7 looks uncluttered and the choice to choose a fixed portrait mode works well, though the latter getting used to. It is true that you have a 7 inch tablet in portrait mode but quickly grabs. The buttons are large enough for comfortable operation and you have the advantage that the layout of your self-defined home screens not suddenly fall apart when you switch to landscape mode.
Two other minor interface changes are the addition of new wallpapers and the ability to lock out the screen and always with a swipe motion from the bottom of the screen in the Google environment to Now.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Widgets and apps
You may hear the still partially at the interface but also the way you enter the home screens has been somewhat modified. Previously you had before you put a widget or app free space, exactly the size of the widget. Thats with the advent of Android 4.1 Jellybean changed since the content on your home screen responsiveness is. This means that when you play with an app or widget on the content on your home screens go, the content shifts already posted so you can place the widget or app.
This makes entering your home screens a lot faster. Now you can buy applications or widgets quickly removed by selecting them and to top off the screen wipe. Another important improvement is that Google has adapted its applications to the 7 inch screen size. So Gmail has two columns and YouTube as a column. Fortunately, this looks on a 7 inch tablet not so bad.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Chrome browser
An application that we first look back in standard Android Jelly Bean is the Chrome browser. Previously made all versions of Android using the stock Android browser and this had quite his problems. Chrome is standard with Android 4.1 Jellybean delivered but on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices have been downloaded from the Google Store Play.
The Chrome browser looks very slick and makes the same is already a better impression than the standard Android browser we were presented with to date. Top of the screen are tabs displayed side by side and to the left or right swipe you smoothly scroll through here. Furthermore Chrome happy Fri minimalist, so the focus is on an optimal browsing experience.
An additional advantage is that you can easily synchronize with Chrome on your PC, laptop or Smartphone. All your favorites, frequently visited web sites, search suggestions, and even open tabs are then transferred to a tablet. This example provides the ability to start surfing on your PC and continue on your tablet. You must have all Chrome browsers logged in with your Google account.
Of course, the performance of the Chrome browser is not unimportant. I have reviews of tablets has often indicated that Chrome better functional, that the standard Android browser and so far I have most tablets have been equipped with Chrome. Fortunately, Chrome only got better as the default browser. Websites are (still) load faster, zooms run smoothly and scrolling is smooth and without lag. In short, a good choice of Google Chrome by default to bring to each tablet.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Notifications
The notifications I mentioned equally treated but there is still more to tell. We now know that the notifications are accessible through the top of the screen where you can roll them out using a swipe down. Once more you open the notifications. This way you can with two fingers so that you deploy a single notification the first few lines of example, an e-mail looks. You can also contact the reporting of multiple e-mails rolling field and see the individual e-mails with subject.
It also provides notification window now possible to display larger images. When creating a screen displays a preview of the image and you can reach a button below the image is an also equal part.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Keyboard and Voice
Google has also made a few adjustments to the standard on-screen keyboard. There is an icon next to the spacebar placed (globe) that lets you quickly language can change. Subscribe often in English and in Dutch you can easily switch between these languages. Also, Google the word prediction allowing improved predictions appear above the keyboard of words or phrases appear that you might want to type.
Another improvement is the addition of Online Voice. This allows you, without being connected to the Internet, then dictate who unsubscribed. Unfortunately, this feature works well especially when you speak English, something we saw with Google Now back. But, for performing simple functions in Android you can use Voice in ‘Dutch’.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Google Now
Now Google is a brand new feature with Android 4.1 Jellybean introduced. Now Google has recently put a normal search engine but also your personal assistant that you constantly informed of all your personal information that is important. The function is so interesting that I have a separate review; complete with extensive video I linked to. Want to read more and see about this feature check out my review of Google Now.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Other improvements
Of course, the above elements are not all the improvements in Android 4.1 Jellybean. For example, Google offers this version of Android full support for NFC wireless communications, the camera applications improved (become faster) and you get better pictures to look back, Google + integrated into the OS and Google Face unlock feature improved with a "Blink Detection function. This last feature lets you set when you unlock Face to blink to create a fake unlock through a picture to prevent.
Android 4.1 Jellybean - Conclusion
Taken together, Android 4.1 is Jellybean no significant change in appearance compared to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new operating system contains a number of fun and useful new features, including Google Now, clearer system notifications and Chrome the default browser, but the main improvement was found under the hood. Jelly Bean feels much more stable, faster and smoother than Ice Cream Sandwich, something that we hopefully go back to see all current Android 4.0 tablets and tablets that all future specifications lesser than the Nexus 7 have.
For now, without all the updates and new tablets having seen Jellybean is an absolute must for every Android tablet (and smart phone). The main argument for this that, I can think this version simply put (more) brings joy to the entire tablet experience, something that previous versions of Android by all sorts of problems, bugs, lags, etc. was quickly removed.
ASUS Google Nexus 7 Android Jellybean 4.1 7" Tablet First Look:
Interesting will be whether manufacturers faith in Android regain with the advent of Jellybean. Should manufacturers like HTC, Samsung and Acer realize that their own skins (adjustments) are no longer needed as Android itself already complete?
